People can apply for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxmann.com\/post\/blog\/51\/gst-registration-online-what-is-gst-registration-gst-eligibility-advantages\/\">GST registration<\/a>\u00a0in Form GST REG-06 for the principal<\/strong> place of business and for additional places<strong> of business that is available on a common portal. This registration is valid for all places of business in a state.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Format of GSTIN Number<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On approval of the application, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxmann.com\/post\/blog\/52\/what-is-gst-goods-and-services-tax-explained-with-benefits\/\">Goods and Service Tax\u00a0<\/a>Identification Number (GSTIN) is assigned, based on the following format:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First two characters for the State Code\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Next ten characters for the PAN or the Tax deductions and Collection Account Number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next two characters for the entity code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The last digit is a check sum
