Copyright Registration Process

Upload: first 10 + last 10 pages of the work, or full work for software. PDF / DOC preferred.

Step 3: Pay Fee

Pay online: ₹500 per work (literary / artistic / musical). ₹2,000 for cinematograph films.

Step 4: Examination

The Copyright Registrar reviews the application. Examination: 6-12 months typically. May call for hearing in case of objections.

Step 5: Registration Certificate

If no objections, the Registrar issues the Copyright Registration Certificate. Valid for the lifetime of the author + 60 years (literary / musical / artistic). 60 years from publication for films / sound recordings.
