Payroll services in India mean an outside team runs your monthly salary cycle: gross-to-net pay, payslips, PF, ESI, Professional Tax and TDS on salary, plus the challans and returns that follow. CorporateWalla's CA team does this on a fixed calendar so PF and ESI are ready by the 15th and salary TDS by the 7th.
From ₹129 per employee per month · Monthly delivery · Multi-state support
Payroll services in India cover the full monthly salary cycle and the statutory payments it creates: PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund and TDS on salary. Outsourcing payroll means a qualified team computes pay, issues payslips and prepares every challan and return to a fixed calendar, while you keep the final approval on salaries and payments.

An employee in Kolkata earns a monthly gross of ₹15,000: basic + DA ₹10,000 and HRA ₹5,000. HRA is one-third of pay, so the 50% exclusion cap under the Code on Wages is not crossed and nothing is added back to wages.
| Item | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Gross salary | Basic + DA ₹10,000 + HRA ₹5,000 | ₹15,000 |
| Employee PF | 12% × ₹10,000 | ₹1,200 |
| Employee ESI | 0.75% × ₹15,000 | ₹112.50 |
| West Bengal Professional Tax | Slab ₹10,001–₹15,000 | ₹110 |
| TDS on salary | Annual salary well inside the tax-free limit | Nil |
| Net pay | ₹15,000 − ₹1,200 − ₹112.50 − ₹110 | ₹13,577.50 (before ESIC rounding) |
| Employer PF | 12% × ₹10,000 (₹833 EPS + ₹367 EPF) | ₹1,200 |
| Employer ESI | 3.25% × ₹15,000 | ₹487.50 |
| Cost to employer | Gross + employer PF + employer ESI | ₹16,687.50 plus EDLI/admin charges |
Illustrative only. Rounding follows EPFO and ESIC rules, and the PF wage base must be tested against the Code on Wages definition for each salary structure. Try your own numbers in the salary calculator.

Outsourced payroll management means a business delegates recurring payroll administration to an external service provider. Depending on scope, this can include employee master management, attendance inputs, salary calculations, deductions, payslips, payroll registers, statutory contribution calculations, challan/payment data, TDS-on-salary support and year-end payroll documents.
Payroll processing is not the same as HR management, employment-law advisory, statutory audit or income-tax representation. Those services should be separately scoped where required.
Depending on the selected package and engagement, payroll support can include:
Actual inclusions follow the selected package and current engagement terms.
India's four Labour Codes (the Code on Wages, 2019, the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, the Code on Social Security, 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020) were made effective from 21 November 2025, replacing 29 earlier labour laws. The Government's notice said that during the transition the relevant provisions of the existing labour Acts and their rules would continue while rules under the Codes were framed. Final central rules under all four Codes were notified in May 2026, and the EPF, EPS and EDLI Schemes, 2026 followed on 29 June 2026; state rules are at different stages. Payroll structures therefore need to be reviewed against the applicable definitions of wages and the rules relevant to the employer, employees and state.
The Code on Wages contains a wage-definition framework that can affect the treatment of allowances where the statutory conditions apply. However, payroll implementation cannot be reduced to a blanket statement that every employee's salary must simply be “50% basic.” The actual wage calculation depends on the statutory definition and applicable rules.
CorporateWalla can help review salary structures against the applicable framework through a Labour Code payroll review, but no single national payroll configuration automatically resolves every state-specific or sector-specific requirement.
Payroll may intersect with:
Not every employer is subject to every item. Applicability depends on establishment, employee category, wages, state, registration status and the relevant law.
Outsourced payroll can be useful for:
The service can also be used as a hybrid model where HR remains internal and payroll processing is outsourced.
CorporateWalla's team can work with Zoho Payroll, Keka, Razorpay Payroll, Darwinbox and other payroll systems, and can also process payroll using Excel where appropriate. For a new Zoho Payroll implementation, see Zoho Payroll Setup.
Software availability, integrations and feature support can vary by product, plan and country. Not every payroll function or integration is supported across all platforms.
Multi-state payroll requires attention to the employee's work location, establishment structure and state-specific obligations. Professional Tax and Labour Welfare Fund requirements, for example, are not uniform across India.
CorporateWalla's Standard and Pro payroll packages currently state multi-state PF/ESI/PT support. Exact states, registrations, filing scope and entity structure should be confirmed before onboarding.
Unless specifically included in the engagement, payroll pricing does not include:
Additional work can be quoted based on scope.
Payroll processing depends on accurate employee, attendance, salary and statutory data. CorporateWalla can perform agreed calculations and review controls, but cannot promise zero errors, no penalties or guaranteed compliance outcomes.
The employer remains responsible for approving payroll, providing complete and timely inputs, funding statutory payments and salary disbursements, and making business decisions about employment terms. Where specialist legal or tax interpretation is required, it should be separately reviewed.
Payroll and statutory due dates vary by obligation and jurisdiction. The central ones are fixed: salary TDS by the 7th (30 April for March), EPF by the 15th and ESI within 15 days of the month end, as set out in the calendar above. Professional Tax and Labour Welfare Fund dates differ from state to state.
Since 1 April 2026 salary TDS runs under the Income-tax Act, 2025: deduction under Section 392 (old Section 192), quarterly statements in Form 138 (old Form 24Q) and certificates in Form 130 (old Form 16). Quarterly returns can be handled under our TDS return filing service.
CorporateWalla can maintain an agreed payroll calendar for the client's applicable PF, ESI, PT, TDS and other obligations. The calendar is configured using current official due dates and state-specific requirements at onboarding and updated when rules change.
